About this course

Who is this course suitable for and what knowledge/skills do I need?

Previous qualifications or knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology are an advantage, but not a necessity. Education levels to a minimum of 5 GCSE’s is advisable. Before certification you must have achieved a current Lifesaver first aid qualification.

What is the course about and what topics will be covered?

This course leads to an internationally recognised ITEC diploma. It covers an in depth study of Anatomy and Physiology, and Professional Conduct, as well as all the practical skills of Reflexology. You will study for three examinations, one in Anatomy and Physiology, the second in Business Conduct and the third in Reflexology. You must pass all examinations in order to practise and obtain insurance. If you already hold the ITEC qualification in Massage, and Anatomy and Physiology you will only have to sit the Reflexology examination. However, you are still required to complete the whole course.

How will you benefit and what will you achieve?

The outcome of the course is to provide you with a recognised Diploma in Reflexology so you can work professionally and obtain insurance.

Which teaching and learning methods will be used?

PowerPoint presentations, demonstrations, verbal and written, questions and answers and there will be group work.

How will your progress be assessed?

Through tests, both written and verbal. Portfolio case studies will be assessed.

Are there any additional costs and what materials do I need?

For the first session please bring writing paper and pen. The tutor will advise on further equipment and books required. Some of the equipment you will need: 3 white towels, bed roll, white mat, wet wipes, beauty couch, 3 pillows, white uniform, couch cover, stool for sitting on, beauty trolley, white shoes, white pedal bin, pillow cases. Please do not obtain any equipment until the course starts. Your tutor will advise you on where to purchase these items

What extra work do you have to do at home?

Homework weekly (approx. 2-4 hours, depending on your ability to absorb information) for the theory of Anatomy and Physiology. Practical case studies which include 40 case studies (10 clients to be treated 4 times each) are also required. Additional information

Anatomy and Physiology ITEC theory exam - 1 hour paper is normally held in June. Reflexology ITEC theory exam - 1 hour paper is normally held in July. Reflexology ITEC practical exam - a complete treatment including reading of the feet is normally held in July. Business conduct ITEC theory exam - 1 hour paper is normally held in July. All examination fees are included within the course fees. Resits are not included. Specification/Exam Board: ITEC - Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology, Reflexology, Professional Conduct and Business Awareness.
